2012 Summer Technology Institute


Once again this year, Drake State is hosting the Summer Technology Institute which is open to secondary educators, counselors, math, science, and technology instructors and other interested teachers and administrators, including middle school.


Through this summer program, participants will experience:


  • Technology education at the postsecondary level
  • “Hands on” lab experiments in Drake labs
  • Meet Drake students and learn about their career ambitions and educational needs
  • Participate in tours of local industries
  • Hear presentations by and interact with industry specialists and HR directors regarding career opportunities for students, their workplace environments, career and entry-level wage rates, and hiring criteria, including qualifications for entry-level positions
  • Hear presentations by state and local economic developers and policy makers engaged in building the workforce of the future
  • Build a portfolio of ideas, information, contacts, and lesson plans that can be used back on the job, whether teaching or counseling students with impact on student motivation and career advancement
