Culinary Program Cooks Up Prizes


Students from the Culinary Arts Program along with their instructors recently competed in The Red Diamond Food Expo & Cooking Competition at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center.

Hard work and creativity paid off with two students taking prizes and their instructors also being recognized for the culinary saavy.

Marci Mays and Jon McClendon placed 1st in the Student Catergory preparing  Grilled Beef Teres Major tacos with fiesta salad and southwestern spicy cream sauce

Lisa Williamson and Kady Kertes received 3rd  place recognition in the student category for Oven Roasted Beef Teres Major with garlic mashed potatoes & spring vegetable medley finished with county brown gravy

Congratulations are also in order for Chef Darrell Echols and Chef Darvin McDaniel for their 1st award in the Professional Category for creating Jumbo lump crab stuffed flounder with Mediterranean sautéed vegetable medley finished with brown butter & balsamic reduction.
