Drake State Students Named To All-Alabama Team

Drake State students Victoria Farrar and Qiana James were named to the All-Alabama Academic Team and received academic scholarships from the All-USA Academic Program.

Farrar and James were honored for their achievements at a recent All-Alabama Recognition Program in Montgomery.

Farrar is an office systems technology major.  She will be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa honor society.  She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Oakwood University and eventually open her own bakery that supplies custom cakes.

James is majoring in office systems technology.  She has worked with student government and has been a part of the praise dance group.  She plans to begin a re-entry program for those with criminal backgrounds and help families in crisis – specifically single mothers and teens.

Students submitted for consideration for the All-Alabama Academic Team must possess a GPA of at least 3.5, demonstrate leadership on their campus, and have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours at the nominating college.

The All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program was founded in 1995 to complement the All-USA National Academic Team Program sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa honor society, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
