Drake State Students Win State Competitions


Huntsville, Alabama – Eight students from Drake State will be representing the State of Alabama at the Phi Beta Lambda National Competition June 20-23 in Anaheim, California after placing first or second at the recent Alabama State Leadership Conference.

The following Drake State Students received recognition in their respective categories:

Parliamentary Procedures – First Place
Betty Toney
Eloise Jones
Bianca Bartlett
Twyla Gibson
Kathy Robinson

Business Law – First Place
Twyla Gibson

Computer Applications – Second Place
Dominque Bazel

Hospitality Management – Second Place
Gwenita Roberts
Andrea Thompson

Sophia Lacy and Carla Henry placed third in their competitions of Computer Applications and Job Interview respectively. These two students will serve as alternates for their categories of competition and could compete nationally if either the first or second place competitor in their category is unable to attend the national competition.

The achievements of these students speak volumes about their hard work and the dedication of their faculty advisors”, comments Helen McAlpine, President of Drake State.
