President of Alabama A&M University To Speak at Drake State Graduation May 10



       Dr. Andrew Hugine Jr., president of Alabama A&M University, will be the keynote speaker for the Drake State graduation ceremony Thursday, May 10, at 6 p.m. in South Hall Two of the Von Braun Civic Center. 

Dr. Hugine became the 11th president of Alabama A&M University in July 2009. Immediately upon his appointment, Hugine developed a financial plan to address the university’s budgetary issues and reorganized the five academic schools into four colleges.

Hugine has presented at numerous professional meetings and is the author of three mathematics textbooks.  He earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and a master’s in mathematics education from South Carolina State University.  He received a doctorate in higher education/institutional research from Michigan State University. 

Approximately 170 certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees will be awarded to graduates of Drake State’s programs.
