Sparkman H.S. Students Tour Drake State

December 4th marked the delectable date during which our students savored Chef Echols finger-licking culinary delights at our annual Student Appreciation Meals. Held at lunch and dinner time, special guests from Sparkman High School also took part in the festivities this year.

Chris Shoenig, Dalton Shoenig and DeCarlos Braxton (center from left to right), seniors at Sparkman, visited the campus in the evening to both enjoy the holiday-themed meal and learn about the programs that Drake State had to offer. This was particularly relevant as these students were December high school graduates and planning their next educational steps.

Joy Dukemineer and Gail Walker, Dual Enrollment Program Coordinators (pictured on far left), invited the students, who were joined by Tiffany Green (far right), Enrollment Services Manager, during their visit.

“Their experience was very positive,” said Mrs. Dukemineer, who added that they were glad to have been able to attend and see the Drake State setting, something they might not have done before as they were not familiar with our college.

Drake State’s Outreach team, to which Mrs. Dukemineer, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Green belong, visits area high schools regularly looking for opportunities to spread the word about Drake State and invite students to visit our campus.
