Students Represent Drake State at AAUW Conference

J.F. Drake State Technical College students Senora Mack and Jacquelyn “Tiffany” Michael represented the college at the recent American Association of University Women (AAUW) state convention in Hoover.

The AAUW encourages women in leadership roles and aims to “advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.”  Mack and Michael were able to meet Rep. Merika Coleman at the convention, where she spoke on issues affecting women and also encouraged young women to get involved in politics.

There were about 80 attendees at the conference – 20 of which were students from throughout the state of Alabama.  Mack, a nursing major, is Ms. Drake 2012-13. Michael, also a nursing major, is the college’s SGA president for 2012-13.
