Services
Reference Assistance – Assistance locating information or material for classroom assignments or research purposes is provided by the librarian on duty at the reference desk. Also, patrons may call the reference desk at (256) 551-5207 or email library@drakestate.edu for reference assistance.
Library Instruction – The library staff provides instruction in the use of library materials to individuals or classes. Please contact the reference desk at (256) 551-5207 to schedule a time or fill out the Library Instruction Request Form and email it as an attachment to library@drakestate.edu.
Computer Labs – There are two computer labs located in the library: one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Patrons are asked to sign in at the circulation desk before using the computers. For assistance with the computers, please see the librarian on duty at the reference desk. Before using the library’s computer labs, patrons need to be familiar with the computer use policy.
Borrowing Privileges - Patrons may check out 10 items from the circulating collection for a period of 30 days. Please see the circulation page for more details.
Referrals to Local or Nearby Libraries – If it is not possible to find requested material in the S.C. O’Neal Sr. Library and Technology Center, the library staff will try to locate another library in the area that may have the needed material.
Internet Access – All computers in the library's computer labs and classrooms have internet access.
Databases – The library provides access to electronic databases via the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL).
Fax Service – The library will send and receive faxes for patrons. There is a $1.00 per page fee. It is the responsibility of the patron to be sure all papers are in order and all information is correct. Please see the librarian on duty at the reference desk for assistance.
Photocopying Services – A photocopier is located in room 122 on the first floor of the library. Photocopies are $0.10 per page.
Room Reservations – The library has several rooms available for use by students, faculty, staff and administration. Please refer to the room descriptions page for a description of each room and reservation procedures.
