COMPASS TESTING ENTRANCE EXAM-LPN APPLICANTS & PLACEMENT EXAM-ALL OTHER NEW STUDENTS

The COMPASS examination for all new college applicants will be given on the following dates and times.  Please contact (256) 551-3116 to schedule a test appointment.  Applicants must complete an Admissions Application prior to or on the day of taking the test.  There is no Application Fee or Testing Fee required.  LPN applicants MUST take the COMPASS test - exemptions do not apply.  Exemptions are noted below for all other new students.

Walk-ins are always welcome but appointments are encouraged.

To schedule testing please contact (256) 551-3116 in the Testing Center in office 705.

  • The testing center is located in Building 700 room 5
  • An application for Admission must be submitted prior to testing.
  • A picture ID will be required at time of test.
  • Calculators are allowed during testing.
  • There is an $10.00 re-test fee.

THE FOLLOWING EXEMPTIONS LISTED ARE POLICY NUMBER 902.01, THE STATE OF ALABAMA, DEPARTMENT OF POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION - TWO YEAR COLLEGE SYSTEM:

1.3 Exemptions

    The following students are exempt from the assessment requirements: any student scoring 480 or above on the SAT verbal and 526 or above on the SAT math, and 20 or above on the ACT English and math who enroll in a System college within three years of high school graduation; students who have an associate degree or higher; and students who transfer degree-creditable college-level English or mathematics courses with a grade of C or better; senior citizens, undeclared, and other non-award seeking majors who are taking classes for a vocational reasons only; students in certain short certificate programs having no English or mathematics requirements; students who have completed required developmental coursework at another Alabama College System institution within the last three years; audit students; students who can provide documentation of assessment (COMPASS or ASSET) within the last three years; and transient students. Dually enrolled high school students in English or math may be exempted from the assessment requirements.
