The continuing education classes fall into several broad categories of classes: personal computing, special interest, healthcare/childcare, workkeys testing and training for the business professional. Feel free to select classes from one or more categories.

Personal computing classes range from 4 hour workshops on topics such as Windows, MS Word, and PowerPoint. They also include training in CISCO networking and classes to prepare the student for a variety of Microsoft Certification Exams. Coming soon are on-line classes to allow students to learn about computers from their home.

Special Interest classes will occur throughout the year and include a wide variety of classes that address specific needs and topics. Classes such as AC-Delco upgrade training, HVAC Certification classes and others are geared to the needs of specific career fields. Other classes such as Floral Design, Conversational Spanish, or Workplace Spanish will appeal to a broader segment of the community. Please check the site regularly to see which new classes have been added.

Childcare related classes include the specific topics required to obtain and renew your license to operate a home childcare facility or to work in a childcare center. These include CPR and Basic First Aid. Anyone is welcome to take these lifesaving classes. The Department of Human Resources recognizes Drake’s classes for license renewals.

WorkKey Testing is offered as a method for paraprofessionals working in local school systems to gain the “highly qualified” rating required under the Federal “No Child Left Behind” law.

Training for Business Professionals.  Drake Technical College is proud to announce a new partnership with the Alabama Technology Network which will allow us to offer a full array of classes for the Business Professional. If Lean Manufacturing, Lean Office, 5S, Six Sigma, and other related training classes would help develop your workforce and improve your business, let Drake arrange that training for you. Training sessions are available as both open enrollment for individuals and as customized training sessions provided to a specific company.

Adult Skill Training HVAC, Carpentry, and Plumbing classes are designed to prepare the student to enter these high demand construction related fields. The classes are 15 weeks long and taught on our campus in partnership with the Construction Education Foundation of Alabama.

Remember, new Cont. Ed classes will be added throughout the semester so keep checking our website for the most up to date listing or call the Continuing Education office at 256.551-5210.
