DRAKE STATE CELEBRATES
COMMUNITY COLLEGE MONTH

 

Drake State Technical College will join other members of the Alabama Community College System to recognize April as Community College Month. The Alabama State Board of Education approved a resolution during the March 27 meeting to recognize April as National Community College Month. On April 17, Governor Bob Riley, along with two-year college personnel and members of the All-Alabama Academic Team, will sign the official proclamation designating April as Community College Month.

Drake State will participate in the celebration through a host of campus activities. The following community college month activities are scheduled for April:

  • Honors Day-Wednesday, April 2, 1 p.m.

  • Skills USA Car Wash-Saturday, April 5, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Spring Fling-Thursday, April 17, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • American Red Cross Blood Drive, Wednesday, April 23, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Nurse Appreciation Health & Job Fair, Thursday, April 24, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Financial Aid Awareness Day, Wednesday, April 30, 9 a.m. – Noon

  • National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony, Wednesday, April 30, 1 p.m.

This year, the community college will celebrate 107 years of service and achievement. Drake State Technical College was founded in 1961
