DRAKE LAUNCHES IAAP CHAPTER

Drake State Technical College recently started a student chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). IAAP is a not-for-profit organization comprised of over 40,000 members and 600 chapters worldwide. Members are employed in all levels of administrative staff including: clerks, receptionists, office managers, and administrative and/or executive assistants. Drake’s student chapter is sponsored by the IAAP Huntsville chapter.

The Drake IAAP chapter recently held its inaugural installation ceremony. During the ceremony, four officers were installed including the president, Randall Miller; vice-president, Curtis Oates; secretary, Helen Nwaubani; and treasurer, Bettie Toney.

At the time of the installation, approximately 21 students had joined the new chapter. Deloris Smothers, Drake computer information systems instructor, is the IAAP student chapter advisor. Stacey Brewer, Redstone Federal Credit Union employee, serves as the student chapter committee chairman for the IAAP Huntsville chapter.
