DRAKE ESTABLISHES COUNSELOR’S CHOICE AWARD

Drake State Technical College has established the counselor’s choice award for May 2008 high school graduates. Drake is allowing high school counselors from Huntsville city, Madison city, and Madison county school systems to select one student from each high school to receive the $1,000 scholarship.

In order to qualify, a student must be a 2008 high school graduate and have at least a 2.5 grade point average. Students must submit a Drake admissions application, an official high school transcript, and a counselor’s choice award application to be eligible for the scholarship.

Crystal Johnson, a Sparkman High School senior, was selected by her college and career counselor, Roger Hillis, to receive the Drake counselor’s choice award.

“Crystal has always been interested in attending Drake and becoming a nurse,” stated Hillis. “She immediately came to mind when Drake announced this scholarship opportunity.”

Drake plans on establishing the counselor’s award as a permanent scholarship. Counselor’s award submissions are due April 30.
