1
Admissions
 

  • Complete an Application for Admission and submit to the Admissions Office - Building E.

  • Submit transcripts from all colleges previously attended.

Step 2
COMPASS Testing
 

 


  • Take the COMPASS Entrance Exam (2nd floor of S.C. O’Neal Library & Technology Center). Testing will take approximately one hour.
  • New students will be required to complete assessment testing in mathematics, reading and English (writing) (See catalog or test administrator for exemptions).
  • Results will be utilized to recommend courses appropriate for the student’s skill level.
  • The Counseling & Advising Center, located in Building E, can provide sample test questions and links to Internet practice tests.
  • Advisors or test administrator will be able to provide additional copies of test results.

Financial Aid



 

  • Students are encouraged to file for financial aid to help with educational expenses.
  • The College participates in a variety of financial aid programs including scholarships, private loans, grants, and work-study opportunities. The Financial Aid Office is located in Building A.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This can be completed on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Please contact the Financial Aid Office (256.551.3113) for further information regarding the application process and eligibility requirements.
Step 4
New Student Orientation Course Planning Session


 

  • Attend the New Student Orientation session held prior to the first day of Regular Registration each semester. This session is designed to provide an overview of the College and the registration process. An academic advisor will help interpret assessment scores.
  • During the New Student Orientation Session students will meet with their advisor who will discuss educational goals and assist with the selection of courses for the first term.
  • Please consult the Schedule of Classes for additional information.

Register for Classes


 

  • Following orientation, students are ready to register for classes with their advisor.
  • New students are encouraged to register for Orientation to College (ORI 101).
  • The advisor will enter the student schedule into the computer and provide a copy for the student.
  • Students will proceed to the Business Office in Building A to complete the registration process.

Complete Registration Process
 
  • All fees must be paid in full by the end of the registration process.
  • Please bring a copy of your schedule to the Bookstore (Building A) when purchasing books.
  • Obtain student ID card and parking decal in Building E.
    Set-up student e-mail account.
