Alabama Community College System recognizes Drake State 2022 All-Alabama Academic Team scholars

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – More than $53,000 total in scholarships was announced for 48 of the Alabama Community College System’s (ACCS) top scholars across the state during the 2022 All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Winfrey Hotel on Friday, April 22.

Three Drake State Community and Technical College students were recognized as 2022 All-Alabama Academic Team scholars. Congratulations to Electrical Technology student and NASA intern Sharde Tate; Nursing student Amber Noffke; and Computer Information Systems student Tashiba Anderson for their demonstration of academic excellence and intellectual rigor, leadership and service, and for a commitment to extending their education beyond the classroom to benefit society.

“Earning this achievement really proves that with enough determination you can really do anything you put your mind to,” said Noffke. “Surround yourself with good people, good mentors, and always challenge yourself to do things that you think might just be a little bigger than you are. You never know what you might get when you shoot for the moon. I am humbled, extremely honored and I can’t wait to represent Drake State, our nursing program, and the State of Alabama!”

In addition to scholarships announced on Friday, All-Alabama Academic Team members are eligible for scholarships when they transfer to Alabama public and private four-year institutions.

“As a non-traditional student, one who graduated from high school over 20 years ago, this accomplishment just proves it is never too late to chase your dreams and become the person you were always meant to be,” said Anderson.

The All-Alabama Academic Team recognition program was founded in 1995 to complement the All-USA Academic Team Program that is sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
