Drake State joins global generosity movement GivingTuesday

December 02, 2019

This GivingTuesday,December 3, 2019, Drake State hopes to increase their community awareness and engagement by encouraging people to support the college’s infrastructure needs. Alumni, students, faculty, community members and partners can participate by simply providing a charitable gift on the college’s website. This is a kick-off for the College’s Annual Day of Giving event that will be in April 2020. The Annual Day of Giving will include scholarships and other ways to partner with the College and their mission to support students' success.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement giving voice and attention to organizations that depend on charitable donations and community support. Drake State has many community and  industry partners supporting its efforts to address growing workforce demands. This support is vital to help ensure the necessary infrastructure, equipment and technology is available to its students.

“Colleges are more than just educational institutions. They also serve as pillars for communities — strengthening civic life and attracting and retaining families and jobs,” said Drake State President Dr. Patricia Sims.

"GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year." said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."
