Admission requirements

Drake State is an open enrollment college. Open enrollment, sometimes called open admission, means our only admission criteria is that you have a high school diploma or GED. You can learn more on our Admissions page or use our Five Easy Steps  checklist to help you through the application process.

Tuition and Fees

When you make the decision to go to college, cost can be a major factor. At Drake State tuition is affordable so you don't have to create debt to earn your education.

Financial Aid and FAFSA

Submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your first step to receiving financial aid and gives you the most access to financial aid sources to pay for your education. Many scholarships also require that you have completed the FAFSA. Video tutorials on completing the FAFSA can be helpful.

Academic programs

A listing of all of Drake State’s academic programs is available online. This includes degree programs and transferrable credits to any college in Alabama.

If you’re looking for a more immediate entry to the workforce or if you are already in the workforce, many of Drake State's academic programs offer professional and technical certificates which can be completed in a matter of months. Through our Workforce Development Department, certificate programs and customized training are available to companies needing to develop the skills of their workforce.
